Derek Jeter is OK

Derek Jeter

Yankees captain Derek Jeter, who was hit in the hand by a pitch during the Yanks’ walk-off 1-0 win over the Orioles, is OK, based on reports.

The X-rays taken on Jeter’s hand were negative, but the captain needs to play in Yankee Stadium’s finale. And indeed, Jeter will play, which to me is a relief. If it was similar to the one Alfonso Soriano recieved, wow, the O’s will get kicked out of town. Anyway:

“I’m going to play tomorrow,” Derek Jeter said. “I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun. I think a lot of the guys will get here early and take it all in.”

Yes, i’d be cool to see who would smack the final hit in Yankee Stadium’s history. Wouldn’t it be great if Jeter was the one?

  1. If Jeter isn’t going to show up in the ceremony, forget it. Shut down the whole event because the Captain is required. Aah—Yankee Stadium memories….

  2. Oh yeah, the ceremony rocked. Yankee Stadium is gone now, but Jeter remains. Let’s go Derek, carry our Yanks!
