Moose gets 20th triumph

Mike Mussina finally did it. The 39- year old righty won his 20th victory of the season, setting a career-high wins record. Kudos, Moose. You’ve always been the anchor of the Yanks’ staff this year!

Final Game(s)

Because of the rainout against the Red Sox in Game 161, the Yankees will play a doubleheader on the final day of the MLB season. What a way to end a baseball year full of surprises and miracles, eh? G’luck Yanks.

Sweet Revenge for the Bombers

The New York Yankees, eliminated from the playoff race just recently, helped themselves to a bit of revenge. Their rival the Boston Red Sox are responsible for ending the Yankees’ 13-year playoff streak, so now, the Yankees are doing everything they can to help the Tampa Bay Rays win the division.

Derek Jeter is OK

Yankees captain Derek Jeter, who was hit in the hand by a pitch during the Yanks’ walk-off 1-0 win over the Orioles, is OK, based on reports.

Remember the 18th

Been there, done that. Mike Mussina has won his 18th win of the season, and needs just two more wins to reach a career-high wins record. Kudos to Moose.
UPDATE: Thanks to Greg C for pointing out my mistake on Moose’s wins record.

Cano is tradeable

Came across this nice piece at iYankees blog.

Over

The season is OFFICIALLY OVER FOR THE YANKEES. 4th Place, No playoff berth. I don’t think it’s necessary to say anymore words here.

Damon and Hideki to play first in ‘09?

Thought I should come up with something to spice up your day. Yeah, I’m glad the Yankees won and everything, but I came across this at iYankees, and it was pretty interesting.
It seems that the two outfielders are willing to learn to play first, but with Giambino leaving at the end of the [...]

Rasner is a goner

Bye, Rasner. It’s good to have you around while you lasted, but no one’s sorry that you’re leaving (well, to be fair, maybe Sox fans).

Instant Replay Debuts: A-Rod passes the test

Finally, the long-awaited Instant Replay is here. Yes, it was installed into the major-league system to call fair or foul home run bombs, but it was never used…until now, in the Yankees 8-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Carl Pavano, by the way, started this game. This certainly erases some doubts regarding Pavano’s ability [...]

The finish line is in sight for Moose

Mike Mussina, who is currently in chase of the elusive 20th victory which has escaped his grasp every single season in his career, is finally close to getting it done. The Yankees veteran, one of the biggest surprises for far this year, won his 17th victory over the young Tampa Bay Rays.
