The New York Yankees, expected to be heavy buyers before this year’s trade deadline, are interested in adding more power and bolstering their outfield. With Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon, their two main outfielders out, and the offensive-challenged lineup sagging under the pressure of the duo, the Yankees are interested in trading for the Pirates’ outfielder Xavier Nady.
Nady has been an offensive force most of the year, one of the three run-producing outfielders in the Pirates. While the Yankees target Brian Fuentes, a cheaper piece could be the Pirates’ Damaso Marte. Marte has performed well during the year out of the Bucs’ bullpen, and could bolster the Yanks’ middle relief as well.
The Yankees lineup have been performing horribly against left-handers this season, and Brian Cashman said that they are interested in signing ex-Mariner slugger Richie Sexson. The 33-year old Sexson is just a couple of years away from when he smacked 30-40 homers each year, so is still quite an offensive force. This seems to be his down year, but the Yankees would like to add him for beating up lefties, as Sexson hits extremely well against left handers. He can DH or play first base, whatever suits him and Jason ‘the ‘Stache’ Giambi the best.
The Pirates would want a couple of minor leaguers for Nady, and it would be great if we can net Marte and Nady in one trade. How about Jose Tabata, Ian Kennedy and a mid-level prospect for them? Speaking of Kennedy, the Rockies are said to be interested enough in him to deal Fuentes for Kennedy straight up. I don’t think Cashman would let go of him so easily, because he wouldn’t even deal him for Johan Santana! If he does, the better.

Trade Ohlendorf and prospects(exclude Ian Kennedy) for both Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady. Move Kennedy, Hawkins, Duncan to Rockies for both Fuentes and Holliday.
